Project overview

Events are extremely important to RFTC Japan, the breast cancer awareness NPO. They are how the team raises money to support their educational activities.

And they hold a lot of events. The foundation began in 2002 with a charity run. The next year, it started hosting an annual gala fundraiser called Pink Ball. And in 2013, it launched a second annual fundraiser, Casino Night. Paradigm has been a partner of RFTC Japan from the beginning and, for more than 20 years, we have provided support for each one of its events.

RFTC Japan’s fundraisers have been held in some of Tokyo’s most prestigious hotels, including the Grand Hyatt, the Westin, the Ritz-Carlton, and, more recently, at the Conrad — all stunning settings for these impressive and important events. Pink Ball, in particular, provides the audience of around 250 guests with some incredible entertainment. Cirque du Soleil has performed, former Miss Universe Japan winners have put on a fashion show, and the Tenrin Daiko taiko drummers, who have supported the foundation for many years, always put on a rousing concert.

Paradigm creates marketing materials, signage, and visuals for the slide shows that appear on screen that are all well suited to these high-end, formal events. The compelling visual presentations we create for the live auctions help attendees get a clear picture of the prizes they are bidding on, which can translate into higher bids and more funds raised for the charity. These visuals also help to spotlight the generosity of RFTC Japan’s many corporate sponsors.

We regularly polish the visuals we have created for the foundation’s events. In 2024, for example, we updated the Casino Night logo to more clearly connect the RFTC Japan brand to the event. It is now looking smarter and classier than ever before.

For many years, we designed colorful, elegant programs — sometimes 28 pages or longer — which were always a time-intensive labor of love. We wrote the text, translated it to Japanese, collected the visuals, and designed the programs. Then we had them printed and delivered to the venue to be laid out for each guest at their table.

Ahead of the event, we give each live auction prize a name and edit the prize descriptions and MC scripts. A writer from Paradigm also used to write event reports of Pink Ball for the foundation’s magazine PiNK.

For the Run for the Cure / Walk for Life event, we create an original T-shirt design every year. It’s nice for participants to have a memento from the event to take home with them, but the main purpose of the shirts is to feature the logos of corporate sponsors, which appear on the back. Their support directly helps the foundation’s activities, and we are pleased we can support the foundation through appealing design for this critical fundraising tool that helps to promote both RFTC Japan and its generous sponsors.

We also support RFTC Japan’s events online. In addition to creating and posting promotional banners on the homepage and updating event information and registration pages, we added ecommerce functionality to the website so that people can sign up and pay for their tickets online.

We will continue to support all RFTC Japan events — until there is a cure.
